We thoughtfully craft each door completely unique to you and your space. This project is inspired by the vernacular design typology of the coastal California barn. Where weathered redwood that has stood the test of time by the palimpsest of patina and moss meet the structural intervention of modern steel.
The frame is constructed with 1.25” square tube of raw mild steel to maintain an elegant profile to enclose and emphasize the façade. The façade is rough sawn 50+ year old reclaimed lumber that was scavenged from the nearby creek and various overgrown nooks and crannies on the property.
This custom garden door is mounted via a weld on hinge bolted to a solid 4x4 post with a concrete foundation just under grade.
This special door is a manifest representation of the history and stories that these materials inhabit over years and years of communicating with the landscape.
